Purlins

Purlins.png

Purlins and Girts are roll-formed from Hi-Tensile galvanised steel. They are primarily used to provide lightweight, economical, efficient roofing and cladding support systems for framed structures. Apex Purlins and girts are available in a range of different sizes and configurations.

C-sections have equal flanges and may be used in single spans and untapped continuous spans in multi-bay buildings. Their freestanding stable shape allows easy handling and storage and is easily adapted for use in small and medium sized buildings as structural framework.

Z-sections feature one broad and one narrow flange allowing the two sections to fit together snugly, making them suitable for lapping. Z sections of the same depth and different thickness' can be lapped in any combination.

We offer the added flexibility of downturn lips and adjustable top flanges for all sizes. Downturn lip purlins are ideal in applications where environmental conditions or a build up of substances like dust or grain are a consideration.

Materials: Purlins and Girts are roll-formed from a galvanised, high strength, steel strip complying with AS1397.

Minimum yield stress: 450Mpa

Standard base steel thickness: 1.0, 1.2, 1.5, 1.9, 2.4 and 3.0. Not in all selections.

Zinc coating of Z350 (350 g/m2 minimum coating mass) is the standard coating class provided.

Fascia Purlins

Purlin fascia dia.png

Fascia Purlins are roll-formed from Hi-Tensile galvanised steel with a smooth face in lengths from 1200mm to 1300mm. They are primarily used to provide a economical combination of a eave purlin and fascia all-in-one solution. The top flange can be rolled to any angle ranging between 84* to 120* for roof pitches between -6* to 30*. The bottom flange is shaped to prevent the entry of water and also provide support for fixing of wall sheeting.

Materials: Purlins and Girts are roll-formed from a galvanised, high strength, steel strip complying with AS1397. Minimum yield stress: 450Mpa.

Standard base steel thickness: 1.9

Holes:

Purlins and Girts are available custom punched to your requirements complying with Australian institute of steel construction gauge lines as tabled below.

Cleat Connection:

The cleat connection is assembled by fastening two bolts through the web of the purlin to a cleats so that the load is supported via the web of the sections. The connections can be a single thickness to match the end connection section, or the internal support connection of a lapped connection.

Lapped Connection (Cleatless):

A lapped connection is the fixing of purlins through the bottom and/or top flange of the purlin is used in certain variations of construction. The capacity tables are not to be used for lapped connections, for these types of connections there are more considerations (both strength and accessibility) and construction concerns that need to be considered.

Roof Battens

Our 40mm Roof Batten is an economical light weight section. It features rolled edges for safe handling and a knurled top for extra grip. The 45 degree mitred ends and ability to overlap makes it fast and simple to use. Being manufactured from high tensile steel means it won't rot, burn, splinter, warp, or twist! 6m or 7.5m lengths.

Note: Loads for double and triple spans are for unlapped spans

Top Hats

Our top hats are lightweight structural sections, perfect for use in a range of commercial, domestic and rural construction applications such as framing & battens in garages, sheds, fencing and carports. They are manufactured in high tensile galvanised steel for high strength and long life. The ease of lapping and screw fixing makes them extremely versatile.
